Perimenopause & Menopause Clinic (available soon)
Richmond Medical is pleased to offer a dedicated clinic for women navigating perimenopause, menopause, and broader midlife transition. We recognise the significant impact hormonal change can have on a woman’s physical, emotional, and overall wellbeing, and the importance of receiving informed, compassionate care during this time.
Women today may spend 40% or more of their lives post-menopause, making this a truly significant chapter. Far from being something to simply endure, this transition is an opportunity to make thoughtful, evidence-based choices that can enhance your quality of life now and for years to come.
Our specialist GPs are here to listen, offering dedicated menopause and perimenopause consultations on Monday and Tuesday mornings. These extended appointments differ from standard GP visits by allowing time to fully explore the many hormonal and non-hormonal challenges women may experience during this time.
Dr Georgina Whiting and Dr Mary Dare bring a wealth of experience in women’s and reproductive health to this new specialised service, with over 35 years of combined clinical practice. Both have completed additional training in the hormonal and non-hormonal management of perimenopause and menopause, and are members of the Australian Menopause Society, the International Menopause Society, and Healthy Hormones.
What to Expect
Your first visit is a comprehensive hour-long consultation. Dr Whiting or Dr Dare will take the time to understand your symptoms, medical history, and hopes for your health. We encourage you to bring test results from your regular GP, and additional investigations may be arranged. With a focus on preventative care and health optimisation, we will develop a tailored management plan suited to your needs and health goals. With your permission, we will keep your usual GP informed, ensuring your care is always connected and continuous.
Follow-Up Appointments
● 2–3 weeks: A review (around 30 minutes) to discuss results and see how you’re feeling with any new treatments.
● 2 – 3 months: A further review (30–60 minutes) to check on your progress and adjust your plan as needed.
We offer ongoing support for as long as you need, until your symptoms and treatment are stable. We will then transition your care back to your regular GP. An annual review of your menopause treatment with us or your regular GP is recommended. You are welcome to return to see Dr Whiting or Dr Dare for review of your menopause treatment at any time if required.
