Dr Penny Magoulas
Dr Penny Magoulas is currently on extended maternity leave.
Dr Penny Magoulas is a specialist GP who trained in Melbourne, who is passionate about holistic medical care and empowering her patients with the knowledge and skills to achieve optimal health and wellbeing.
Special interests: Women’s Health, pregnancy planning / management, preventative medicine, doctors health and wellbeing, mental health, sexual health, travel / tropical medicine and oncology (cancer) medicine.
Penny graduated from the University of NSW in 2006 and then went on to obtain valuable experience in various medical specialties and hospitals across Sydney, Melbourne and Darwin. She was a psychiatry trainee for 2 years and worked in mental health for several years. She also completed 2 years of accredited training as a radiation oncology registrar in Sydney prior to entering general practice training.
Her interest in cancer care medicine led her to work as a pain and palliative care registrar at Peter Mac Cancer Centre in Melbourne in 2014, where she completed further study through the Royal Australian College of Physicians to obtain her Clinical Diploma in Palliative Care.
She started her general practice journey in Melbourne and completed her specialist fellowship qualification through the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners obtaining her FRACGP in 2016.
Penny has a passion for integrating modern evidence based medicine and lifestyle approaches to get to the root cause of the problem. She enjoys being an advocate for her patients, loves the continuity of care and building ongoing therapeutic relationships with her patients.
She just returned to Australia after a period of time spent overseas in Colombia, where she gained invaluable experience through an observership with the Infectious Diseases team in the local hospital.
